Declaring Arrays
You can declare arrays in JavaScript using different methods. Here are a couple of examples:
const marvel_heroes = ["thor", "ironman", "spiderman"];
const dc_heroes = ["superman", "flash", "batman"];
Using the Push Method
The push
method adds elements to the end of an array. Interestingly, you can even push an entire array into another array:
marvel_heroes.push(dc_heroes);
console.log(marvel_heroes);
// Output: ["thor", "ironman", "spiderman", ["superman", "flash", "batman"]]
In JavaScript, arrays can take any type of data as input. Here, marvel_heroes
takes dc_heroes
as an entry, creating a nested array.
To access elements within the nested array:
console.log(marvel_heroes[3][1]);
// Output: "flash"
Concatenating Arrays
A better approach than using push
for combining arrays is the concat
method, which returns a new array:
const all_heroes = marvel_heroes.concat(dc_heroes);
console.log(all_heroes);
// Output: ["thor", "ironman", "spiderman", "superman", "flash", "batman"]
Using the Spread Operator
The spread operator (...
) is a more preferred way to merge arrays because it allows for merging more than two arrays:

The spread operator is versatile and efficient, making it a popular choice for array manipulation, also it is better than concat() as it can only take one argument whereas spread operator can take multiple arrays and combine them.
Flattening Arrays
JavaScript arrays can contain nested arrays. To flatten these nested structures into a single array, use the flat
method:
const another_array = [1, 2, 3, [4, 5, 6], 7, [6, 7, [4, 5]]];
const real_another_array = another_array.flat(Infinity);
console.log(real_another_array);
// Output: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 6, 7, 4, 5]
The flat
method concatenates all sub-array elements into a new array up to the specified depth. By passing Infinity
, you ensure the array is fully flattened, regardless of its depth.

Checking if a Variable is an Array
To check if a variable is an array, use the Array.isArray
method:
console.log(Array.isArray("harsh"));
// Output: false
Converting to an Array
The Array.from
method creates a new array from an array-like or iterable object:
console.log(Array.from("harsh"));
// Output: ["h", "a", "r", "s", "h"]
console.log(Array.from({ name: "harsh" }));
// Output: []
// Returns an empty array because it's an object with key-value pairs
// we have to tell that whether you have to create array of key or value.
Creating an Array from Arguments
The Array.of
method creates a new array from a variable number of arguments:
let score1 = 100;
let score2 = 200;
let score3 = 300;
console.log(Array.of(score1, score2, score3));
// Output: [100, 200, 300]
